ivrytwr Summer Road-trip 2012
As part of our jobs as public school English teachers, Beth and I receive two weeks off in the summer. Tired of airports and baggage we decided to hit the open road in our 2001 Kia Spectra and let fate be our guide.
We ended up driving along the East coast of Korea down to the Southern Goje Island. As we drove we stopped at every cultural heritage site or museum that caught our eye (or had a conveniently located bathroom).
Korea has a huge museum culture. Nearly everywhere you travel there are all kinds of cultural heritage attractions. Not only are there cultural heritage sites everywhere, these sites are almost always busy with people. While museums may be suffering from diminished numbers in North America, they seem to be doing well in Korea.
Join us on the ivrytwr Summer Road-trip 2012 as we explore a different museum or cultural heritage site every Friday for the next six weeks.
Here’s the schedule:
Friday August 31st – Gumpo Fossil Museum
Friday September 7th – The Teseum Teddy Bear Museum, Gyeongju
Friday September 14th – Busan Aquarium
Friday September 21st – Tomb of the Five Emperors, Gyeongju
Friday September 28th – Uljin Aquarium
Friday October 5th – National Kimchi Museum, Seoul
Yes, summer may be almost over, but on ivrytwr the summer never ends. Join us as we hit the road and visit some of the best (and occasionally strangest) museums and cultural sites that Korea has to offer.
As a final note, Beth and I will only be in Korea for another 10 weeks, if you know of or have visited any museums or cultural sites that you’d like us to visit, please leave a comment and we’ll try our best to visit them.
